Dona Lola is a self-contained beach-side Gold-Crown Holiday Resort with three lovely pools, an inside leisure complex, several bars & restaurants, mini-market, launderette etc.
Dona Lola is ideally situated between Malaga Airport (half an hour drive) and Marbella (ten minute drive). It is only a beach walk to La Cala one way, and to Cabopino the other.
The apartments of the Dona Lola resort are set beside the sea amid heavily scented gardens, swaying palms and waterfalls, and in a superb climate which boasts of 320 Sunny days a year !
This spacious 3-bedroom penthouse is air-conditioned, and has superb panoramic views over the sea from its large Southerly facing balcony, lounge, master-bedroom, and shower !
It really is a spectacular vista. From this third (top) floor vantage point, the fishing boats can be seen leaving the beach in the morning, and returning with their catch a few hours later. Ships of all sizes, from cruise ships to giant container-carrying monsters, can be visually followed as they cruise past your apartment.
It's a great place to bird-watch from, as this part of the coast is on a migration route for birds to & from Africa, and some call in for a while ! I've supplied binoculars to watch the antics of the diving sea-birds, some of which which you look down upon !
The apartment has 2 bathrooms with powerful shower over bath (one being en-suite to the master bedroom) and a brand new kitchen in 2006, equipped with dishwasher, washing machine, giant fridge/freezer, microwave, full-size cooker / hob etc.
Each of the individually designed bedrooms have twin beds, making this apartment suitable for families (cot & high-chair supplied) or groups of single sex golfers.
The comfortable and characterful lounge / dining room is equipped with satelite television and hi-fi. Interesting lighting adds to the ambience ..... even some of the sea-shells light up !
The Dona Lola resort offers an extensive range of sports and leisure facilities, both indoor and outdoor.
The main outdoor pool starts at a shallow end safe for youngsters, and then meanders, right by the sea, for 270 feet and under 2 beautiful white bridges, before reaching the deep end!
The beach is just a few steps down from the loungers around the pool. You can walk along the beach for as long as you want from here, in both directions. Walking right for thirty minutes will take you to Cabopino, where the sea-side and harbour shots were taken for 'Elderado'. (Do you really remember that !) Walking left takes you to La Cala, a more typical Spanish village with good-value restaurants, lots of bars, and a really nice beach.
An additional "over 18's" outdoor pool in a lovely sheltered spot near the bar / bistro provides a quieter facility at peak times, and our indoor Leisure Complex comprises jacuzzi, saunas, steam-Room, gym and indoor heated pool, as well as a full-size snooker room and table-tennis tables. There are two flood-lit tennis courts, and areas for children to socialise, with pool-tables.
There are beach bars within ten minutes walk along the sand in both directions, and several more bars and restaurants on the complex, including Italian, Chinese, Indian, Spanish tapas, and an all-day buffet. Just over the pedestrian bridge there are many more bars, restuarants, cafes, banks, shops of all types, and a chemist.
Coach trips to a wide variety of local attractions such as Ronda, Gibraltar, Fuengirola, and Malaga, can be arranged at the Dona Lola reception.
You can partake of free Spanish lessons, water-aerobic lessons, watch Paella-making demonstrations, or join in five-a-side football or table-tennis competitions. Yes, something for every age. And there's free evening entertainment too.
GOLF
The Costa del Sol (or Costa del Golf as many Spanish road signs proclaim!) is known as the 'golfer's paradise', and deservedly so. As well as the weather (320 days of sunshine a year!) the many courses designed by famous professionals entice golfers to this area. There are thirty courses within a twenty minute drive. There is even one within walking distance. It's a magnificent place to play golf throughout the year, but more particularly between November and March, when the temperatures are more suitable. (You won't have to hide from the Sun under your golf umbrella). Rounds at most courses can be booked through our reception, on (0034) 952 932477. Ask to speak to Aemon Powell, the local golf-expert.
